In a recent statement, the Interior Ministry in Gaza has issued a stark warning to the residents of Gaza City, urging them not to heed evacuation orders from the Israeli occupation military. The ministry has labeled these directives as a form of psychological warfare aimed at Palestinians.
The Israeli occupation army had directed the citizens to relocate to a designated “humanitarian zone” in al-Mawasi, a region at the Gaza Strip’s southern tip, which has seen previous military strikes. However, the Gaza ministry has denounced the so-called safe corridors to this zone as “death corridors,” suggesting that those who attempt to flee are likely to face fatal consequences.
Historical precedents support the ministry’s cautionary stance. Past evacuation efforts have resulted in Palestinians being shot at and detained while trying to traverse Salah al-Din road, a major thoroughfare that spans Gaza.
Instead of moving southward, the ministry advises residents to seek refuge in closer vicinities. This guidance comes amidst a backdrop of escalating military actions by the Israeli occupation army on Gaza City, raising concerns about the safety and security of its inhabitants.
