Israeli occupation forces on Monday assaulted and endangered the lives of several Palestinian journalists who were covering the ongoing Israeli aggression on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp in the northern West Bank.
According to WAFA, The Israeli forces deliberately opened fire at al-Arabi TV reporter, Amid Shehadeh, and cameraman Rabi Munir, while they were broadcasting live from the scene of the attack. The bullets hit the camera and the transmitter, setting them on fire and damaging them.
Shehadeh told WAFA that he and his colleague narrowly escaped death as the Israeli occupation forces targeted them with more than six bullets. He said they had to flee the area and seek shelter in a nearby house.
Meanwhile, five other journalists from different media outlets said they were trapped inside another house in the camp, as the Israeli occupation forces were shooting at them directly. They appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to intervene and evacuate them from the dangerous situation.
The Israeli aggression against Jenin and its camp, which started after midnight, has so far claimed the lives of eight Palestinians and injured more than 30 others, seven of them critically. The Israeli occupation forces also demolished several homes and arrested dozens of residents in a large-scale raid that sparked fierce clashes with the local resistance fighters.
