The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) launched Tuesday, December 27, 2022 a massive campaign of arrests, targeting 24 Palestinians, in separate areas of the occupied West Bank.
Arrests were concentrated in the governorates of Jenin and Nablus (north of the West Bank), Hebron (south) and Ramallah (center), during which houses were raided and their contents tampered with, while dozens of their Palestinian owners were detained and subjected to field investigations.
In Nablus, IOF arrested six Palestinian youths, including a number of previously released prisoners, and activists from An-Najah University. Sources indicated that the occupation forces arrested Abdul Rahim Bashkar, after raiding his house in the Al-Masaken Al-Shabi neighborhood, who is a freed prisoner spent 20 years inside Israeli jails and was released last March.
IOF also arrested the young Palestinian man, Islam Al-Khanfa, after raiding his family’s house in the village of Beit Iba, west of Nablus, in addition to his brother Anas, after raiding his workplace and they are two freed prisoners too. The spokesman for the Islamic Bloc at An-Najah University was also detained, who’s a freed prisoner, Jihad Ahmed, from his home, on Asira Street, and the student at the Faculty of Law, Ibrahim Musa Al-Khurraz.
The young Amir Al-Azizi, who is the brother of the martyr Muhammad Al-Azizi, the founder of the Lions’ Den (fighting groups in the northern West Bank), was also arrested after his sister’s house was raided in the Al-Tur area.
In the town of Silwad, east of Ramallah, IOF arrested twelve Palestinian citizens, after raiding their homes, while in Jenin, forces stormed the town of Jaba, south of the city, and arrested the two young men, Ezz al-Turk and Yazan Imad al-Alam, after they raided and searched their families’ homes.
On a daily basis, IOF launch raids and searches in the cities of the West Bank, and arrest many Palestinians, before transferring them to interrogation centers and Israeli camps.
Until the end of last October, the number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons reached about four thousand and 760, according to institutions concerned with prisoner affairs.
