Days of Palestine, London –Israeli Intelligence and Strategic Affairs Minister Yuval Steinitz said that the UK Commons support terrorism, The Telegraph reported.
Speaking to the Chief Foreign Correspondent of the British Newspaper David Blair, Steinitz said that the UK Parliament was guilty of “encouraging terrorist attacks” and “giving up” on peace when MPs cast a “miserable” vote in favour of Palestinian statehood.
He told the Telegraph that he was “surprised” and “frustrated” by the passage of a resolution through the Commons last Monday urging the Government to “recognise the state of Palestine alongside the state of ‘Israel.’”
Accusing the Palestinians of being terrorists and the UK Commons of supporting them, Steinitz said: “It was a reward for this [Palestinian rockets fired in retaliation to the Israeli lethal attacks] terrorist attack on ‘Israel’ to make such a vote.”
The Israeli minister said that the Palestinian group Hamas, which got an overwhelming majority in the general elections in 2006, was condemned by the Arab regimes.
“And then there is such a vote in the British Parliament,” he said. “It is like saying ‘look, we cannot care less about rocket attacks on ‘Israel.’”
He said that the UK MPs vote for the statehood of Palestine state as accepting to support terrorism and terrorists. Referring to the Palestinian fighters in Gaza, who attempted to stop the Israeli attacks that killed more than 2,200 and wounded more than 11,000 in 51 days, as terrorists.
Israeli occupation waged a 51-day war on the Gaza Strip that killed around 2,200 Palestinians and wounded more than 11,000, nearly 80 per cent of them, the US said, were civilians. The total deaths included more than 500 children.
In the same war, the Palestinian fighters, including Hamas retaliated to the Israeli attacks and killed 72 Israelis, including 67 soldiers, including a baby and an old woman died of a heart attack.
The UK Commons passed this non-binding motion by 274 votes to 12 after Labour MPs were instructed to vote in favour. However, the Government made clear that this voter would not change its supportive policy to the Israeli occupation.
