DaysofPal – Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza has caused catastrophic destruction, disrupting the lives of more than two million Palestinians. Air strikes have obliterated entire families, left communities displaced and vulnerable, and forced hundreds of thousands into temporary shelters and overcrowded camps.

Long queues for food distribution highlight the severe humanitarian emergency gripping the territory. Starvation-related deaths are rising as military operations and strict restrictions exacerbate the critical food shortage. Gaza’s healthcare, education, and infrastructure systems have been decimated, leaving civilians exposed to unprecedented risks.

The Government Media Office in Gaza has released its comprehensive annual statistical update for 2025, documenting the devastating human, social, and economic consequences of Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, more than 2.4 million Palestinians were subjected throughout the year to a comprehensive genocidal war marked by systematic starvation, ethnic cleansing, and mass displacement. Israeli military operations continued for 283 consecutive days, despite the passage of 82 days since a ceasefire agreement that was repeatedly violated.

By the end of 2025, approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s urban infrastructure had been destroyed, while Israeli forces had seized control of about 55 percent of the territory through military force. More than 112,000 tons of explosives were dropped on the Strip during the year alone.

Killings, Missing Persons, and Mass Death

The total number of Palestinians killed or reported missing during 2025 reached 29,117. Of these, 25,717 bodies were recovered and brought to hospitals, while more than 3,400 people remain missing, many believed to be buried under rubble.

Among the dead were more than 5,437 children and 2,475 women, with children, women, and the elderly accounting for roughly half of all those killed. Starvation and malnutrition claimed the lives of at least 475 people, including 165 children. A further 23 people were killed due to faulty aid airdrops.

The collapse of Gaza’s health system proved fatal for hundreds suffering from chronic illness. At least 622 kidney patients, half of those registered, died due to the lack of food and medical care. The year also saw more than 4,441 miscarriages linked to malnutrition and inadequate healthcare, while four displaced individuals died from extreme cold in December. Additionally, 19 people were killed in building collapses caused by bombardment during periods of severe weather.

Injuries and Arrests

Hospitals received 62,853 injured individuals during the year. Meanwhile, more than 2,700 civilians were arrested by Israeli forces across the Gaza Strip.

Collapse of the Health Sector and Civil Defense

By the end of 2025, 22 hospitals had been rendered out of service. Israeli attacks targeted 211 ambulances and destroyed 23 civil defense vehicles, severely limiting emergency response and rescue operations.

Education Under Attack

The education sector suffered catastrophic damage. Thirty educational institutions were completely destroyed, while 39 sustained partial damage. Approximately 95 percent of schools in Gaza were damaged, leaving 785,000 students deprived of their right to education.

More than 1,000 students were killed during the year, along with 88 teachers and 45 academics and researchers.

Destruction of Places of Worship and Cemeteries

Israeli attacks completely destroyed 34 mosques and partially damaged another 100. Three churches were targeted multiple times. Out of 60 cemeteries in Gaza, 21 were destroyed, and approximately 1,700 bodies were stolen from graves.

Housing and Mass Displacement

The housing sector experienced unprecedented devastation. At least 106,400 housing units were completely destroyed, while 66,000 were rendered uninhabitable due to severe damage, and 41,000 sustained partial damage.

More than 213,000 families were displaced, with nearly two million people forcibly uprooted from their homes. Israeli attacks also targeted 87 shelters housing displaced civilians.

Starvation, Denial of Aid, and Medical Deprivation

Border crossings remained completely closed for 220 days, preventing the entry of more than 132,000 aid and fuel trucks. Israeli forces targeted over 40 charitable kitchens and 50 aid distribution centers.

The killing of 500 aid workers and volunteers was documented, while so-called “aid traps” resulted in the killing of 2,605 people and the injury of 19,124 others. As a result, 650,000 children faced the risk of death from starvation, including 40,000 infants.

Medical travel restrictions left 22,000 patients unable to seek treatment abroad. At least 5,200 children required urgent medical evacuation, while more than 17,000 patients awaited approval to travel.

The crisis placed 12,500 cancer patients in life-threatening conditions and deprived 350,000 chronically ill individuals of essential medication. Additionally, 47,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women were exposed to severe health risks.

Infrastructure in Ruins

Israeli attacks destroyed more than 700 water wells, 3,080 kilometers of electricity networks, and hundreds of thousands of meters of water and sewage systems. Over two million linear meters of roads were damaged, alongside the destruction of 150 government buildings, 250 sports and cultural facilities, and 208 archaeological and historical sites.

Agricultural and Economic Collapse

More than 80 percent of Gaza’s agricultural land was destroyed, along with 1,000 agricultural wells and 500 livestock and poultry farms. Cultivated vegetable areas shrank dramatically from 93,000 dunums to just 4,000 dunums. Sixty percent of greenhouses were destroyed, while the fishing sector was completely wiped out.

Economic Losses

Preliminary estimates place direct economic losses across 15 vital sectors at more than $33 billion during 2025 alone.

The Gaza Government Media Office’s 2025 report highlights a year marked by systematic deprivation, widespread killing, and the almost complete destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure due to Israel’s ongoing war. Millions of Palestinians remain displaced, deprived of basic services, and exposed to severe humanitarian risks. The sheer scale of destruction, from homes, schools, and hospitals to food, water, and medical systems, highlights the urgent need for international attention and action to prevent further loss of life and alleviate human suffering.
