DaysofPal- The World Food Program (WFP) said that the quantities of aid entering the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire remain insufficient to meet the growing humanitarian needs, especially in the northern part of the enclave.
In a statement on Tuesday, the WFP explained that the supplies currently reaching Gaza are enough to cover the needs of about half a million people for only two weeks, noting that “some shipments are reaching northern Gaza, but not in the quantities required to meet the needs.”
The statement added that more than 530 trucks carrying humanitarian aid have entered the Strip in recent days, but the required amount stands at around 2,000 tons per day to meet the minimum needs of the population.
The WFP pointed out that the closure of border crossings remains a major obstacle to bringing in sufficient quantities of food and relief materials, warning of a worsening humanitarian crisis as shortages persist in northern Gaza.
Residents of northern Gaza continue to face dire humanitarian conditions, with severe shortages of food, water, and medicine.
Relief organizations have warned of the growing risk of hunger and malnutrition, particularly among children and women.
