An investigation by Al Jazeera has revealed that the missiles deployed in an Israeli strike on UNRWA school were equipped with guidance systems manufactured in the United States.
Three missiles used in the attack killed 40 Palestinians, including 14 children, 9 women, and wounded other 79, who were asleep at 1:30 am in the Suradi school, housing nearly 20,000 displaced people, in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The probe, conducted by Al Jazeera’s Sanad news verification agency, identified the arms used in the shelling as products of Honeywell, an American company known for its precision guidance systems.
Notably, similar systems were implicated in an Israeli assault on a Palestinian residence in the Shujayea neighborhood of Gaza in 2014.
Further investigation revealed that components from the previous bombing and today’s attack on the school shared identical manufacturer and category numbers, underscoring a troubling continuity in the use of these advanced weaponry systems.
Commenting on today’s massacre, CNN said this is the second time in two weeks that Israeli army utilized US-manufactured munitions in deadly attacks on displaced Palestinians.
The first was in Rafah on May 26 when Israel targeted an Tents’ camp near UN barracks in Rafah, massacring 45 people, including 23 women, children and elderly.
Explosive weapons expert also found that the Israeli army used at least two US-made GBU-39 small diameter bombs (SDB) in the strike. CNN identified fragments of the two munitions in the video filmed at the scene by a journalist working for CNN.
The Israeli army has intensified its ground and air attacks on centeral Gaza’s camps, Al-Bureij, Al-Maghazi, and Deir Al-Balah, which resulted in the killing of at least 141 Palestinians and the injury of 380 others over the past 24 hours, Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital said.
