The Israeli occupation army assassinated Friday night, June 7th, the Mayor of Al-Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, Dr. Iyad Ahmad Al-Maghari, along with a group of citizens.
Earlier in the night, five people were reported killed, including the mayor of Al-Nuseirat when Israeli occupation forces attacked a municipal office in the central Gaza region.
Government media office in Gaza said this massacre constitutes a war crime that contravenes international laws which grant immunity and protection to civilian figures, adding “This crime is a new episode in the series of the occupation’s crimes against our Palestinian people, deliberately and premeditatedly targeting all sectors.”
The assassination of the Mayor Dr. Iyad Al-Maghari is a war crime aimed at creating and spreading chaos, lawlessness, and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the already devastated enclave, the office further added.
It also revealed that Dr. al-Maghari was killed while on duty providing humanitairian services to his people, confirming that he was a devoted and committed to his work since the start of this genocide.
This crime is part of a series of previous crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against municipalities and their leaders, including the assassinations of the Mayor of Al-Zahraa, Mr. Marwan Hamad, and the Mayor of Al-Maghazi, Mr. Hatem Al-Ghamri.
The Israeli army also destroyed the headquarters of the municipalities of Al-Zawayda, Al-Zahraa, Gaza, Khan Yunis, Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, and others.
The Israeli attack on Al-Nuseirate Mayor came as Israeli military is launching a ground and air assault on the middle area, killing at least 150 Palestinians in Al-Bureij, Al-Nuseirate, Al-Maghazi, and Deir Al-Balah.
Four people were reported killed and six injured in an Israeli attack on a residential house in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, last night.
Three other Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential tower near a school sheltering displaced families in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, last night.
