DaysofPal- The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said more than 12,000 Palestinian children are currently living in conditions of forced displacement in the occupied West Bank amid ongoing Israeli military operations in the territory’s northern areas.
In a statement posted on its official X account, UNRWA warned that thousands of children and their families have been uprooted from their homes, describing the situation as having serious and lasting consequences for their safety, education, and well-being.
UNRWA said it launched an emergency education response in February 2025, targeting displaced children in the northern West Bank, aimed at ensuring continuity of learning.
The program includes the establishment of temporary learning spaces, remote education options, and psychosocial support services to help children cope with trauma.
UNRWA noted that approximately 48,000 Palestinian children are currently enrolled in its schools throughout the West Bank.
Israeli occupation forces have been conducting a large-scale military campaign in the northern West Bank since January 21, 2025, beginning in the Jenin refugee camp before expanding to the Nur Shams and Tulkarm refugee camps.
According to Palestinian sources, Israeli military raids and attacks by settlers during this period have resulted in the deaths of more than 1,100 Palestinians, injuries to around 11,000 others, and the arrest of over 21,000 people.
Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that the continued violence and displacement are deepening the humanitarian crisis in the West Bank, with children among the most affected, as access to education, security, and basic services continues to deteriorate across the occupied territory.
