Gaza City, July 7, 2024 – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has painted a stark picture of the daily struggles faced by children in Gaza, where they spend between 6 to 8 hours a day fetching water and food.
In a post on its official “X” platform account yesterday, Saturday, the UN agency highlighted the harsh realities in Gaza, emphasizing that sanitation facilities and infrastructure are severely compromised. This dire situation forces thousands of families to rely on seawater for washing, cleaning, and even drinking.
Describing the plight of Gaza’s children, UNRWA stated, ”They spend 6-8 hours a day collecting water and food, often carrying heavy weights & walking long distances.”
UNRWA concluded its message by renewing its call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, underscoring the urgent need for humanitarian intervention amidst worsening conditions.
