The Palestinian Center for Prisoner Studies PCPS has confirmed a tragic incident, revealing that Israeli forces executed three Palestinian detainees at the Karm Abu Salim crossing, east of Rafah in southern Gaza.
This event marks the latest in a series of atrocities committed against the people of Gaza and the thousands of Palestinian prisoners held in the occupation’s prisons and detention centers.
In a statement received by Days of Palestine, the Center detailed the harrowing circumstances leading up to the executions. The three victims had been detained by Israeli soldiers and subjected to days of harsh interrogation while handcuffed.
After being falsely promised release at the crossing, they were shot and killed in cold blood as they attempted to return to Gaza. Their bodies, bearing signs of torture, were discovered on Sunday morning.
The Palestinian Center for Prisoner Studies also highlighted the recent abduction of several individuals, including aid workers near Abu Salim crossing, whose fates remain unknown. There is speculation that the three executed men might have been among those recently detained.
The Center reported a surge in the deaths of Gazan detainees since October 7, attributing these deaths to prohibited torture methods, deliberate medical neglect, and brutal detention conditions.
According to Israeli media, 36 prisoners from Gaza have died under such circumstances, although released detainees suggest the actual number is significantly higher.
Further methods include ongoing enforced disappearances, with Israeli occupation authorities withholding information about the number and conditions of detainees.
Moreover, legal representatives and international organizations are barred from visiting the Gaza prisoners, raising concerns over the cover-up of these crimes.
Testimonies from released prisoners describe severe abuses, including electric shocks, prolonged suspension by the legs, attacks by police dogs, and extended exposure to harsh sunlight while handcuffed.
Prisoners are reportedly deprived of water, bathing, prayer, and subjected to starvation, continuous beatings, and verbal abuse.
The Palestinian Center for Prisoner Studies urgently calls on international human rights organizations to intervene and halt the extrajudicial executions and egregious torture inflicted on Gazan detainees, warning that the death toll is likely to rise unless these abuses are stopped.
