DaysofPal- The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Tuesday urged the immediate evacuation of at least 25 sick and premature infants from incubators in Gaza City, warning that their lives are at imminent risk following an Israeli strike on Al-Helou Hospital overnight.
Medical sources in Gaza said Israeli tanks have encircled the hospital, where around 12 of the infants remain in intensive care incubators, as shelling continues in the surrounding area.
UNICEF described the situation as “critical” and stressed that safe passage must be guaranteed to transfer the newborns to functioning medical facilities outside the war zone.
The call comes as Gaza’s healthcare system teeters on the brink of collapse, with repeated strikes hitting medical facilities and severe shortages of electricity, fuel, and medical supplies, leaving hospitals unable to sustain life-saving equipment.
