UN: Israel Drives 1200 Palestinians Out of Their Homes in Masafer Yatta

DayofPal— The United Nations has warned that the occupied West Bank is facing its most severe displacement crisis in decades, as Israeli military operations, demolitions, and settler violence intensify.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), over 1,500 Palestinians have been forced from their homes this year due to Israel’s restrictive building policies, which Palestinians say make it nearly impossible to obtain permits.

About 1,000 people were displaced from Area C, while another 500 were forced from occupied East Jerusalem.

Satellite imagery analyzed by humanitarian agencies shows that around 1,460 structures in Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarem refugee camps have been destroyed or damaged during repeated Israeli military operations.

The UN also highlighted a surge in settler attacks coinciding with the olive harvest. Since October 1, OCHA recorded 167 violent incidents targeting 87 Palestinian communities, with armed settlers reportedly acting under the protection of Israeli forces.

The attacks have resulted in the deaths of multiple Palestinians, including children. Between November 4 and 10, Israeli troops killed four Palestinians, three of them children, in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Since January, at least 45 Palestinian children have been killed, nearly a quarter of all Palestinian casualties in the territory this year.

OCHA described the ongoing operations in Jenin, Nur Shams, and Tulkarem as triggering “the largest and longest displacement crisis in the northern West Bank since 1967.”

The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) estimates that at least 31,919 Palestinian refugees have been driven from these camps and surrounding neighborhoods due to continued military incursions.

The escalating crisis underscores growing concerns over the humanitarian situation in the West Bank, with aid agencies warning that displaced families face urgent needs for shelter, food, and medical support.
