DaysofPal- The United Nations has raised concerns that Israeli restrictions on essential equipment entering Gaza are worsening the territory’s humanitarian crisis, especially in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said in a daily briefing that Israeli occupation forces continue to delay or block shipments of vital items, including equipment needed to maintain basic power services.
He noted that UN humanitarian partners were only able to deliver security communications equipment today, which had been held up since August 2024 due to prolonged Israeli approval delays.
Dujarric emphasized that temporary shelters, such as tents, cannot provide a long-term solution, offering only minimal protection for displaced families.
He called for urgent steps toward sustainable solutions, including the repair and reconstruction of damaged homes.
He also highlighted that land available for relocation to less flood-prone areas remains limited, leaving many families vulnerable to ongoing hazards. Over one million people in Gaza are still in urgent need of emergency shelter, reflecting the scale of the crisis.
The UN’s warnings underscore growing international concern over the combined impact of restricted access, infrastructure damage, and the ongoing humanitarian emergency in Gaza.
