DaysofPal- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has issued a stark warning about the deepening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where children make up nearly half the population affected by ongoing bombardment and escalating aggression.
In its latest report, OCHA stated that more than 632,000 people have been displaced again within Gaza since March 18, compounding the crisis and placing unbearable pressure on already fragile services and resources.
The healthcare system in Gaza is described as being on the brink of collapse, especially following the killing of 28 humanitarian workers since the beginning of May. These losses have severely undermined the ability of medical teams to respond to emergencies and save lives.
OCHA strongly condemned attacks on Palestinians near aid distribution centers, labeling the violence as “unbearable” and calling for an immediate halt to the Israeli military campaign to protect civilians.
The UN agency appealed to the international community to scale up urgent and effective support, ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid, and take swift action to prevent the crisis from spiraling further out of control.
OCHA emphasized that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly and requires immediate international intervention to prevent further loss of life and to uphold the basic rights of the civilian population.
