DaysofPal- United Nations experts have called for an immediate halt to attacks on shelters in Gaza and an end to forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank, warning that a cycle of displacement and targeted violence is aimed at making life unlivable for Palestinians and forcing them to leave their land permanently.
A report cited by Anadolu Agency said the experts expressed deep concern over Israeli military strikes targeting facilities sheltering displaced people in Gaza, alongside a renewed pattern of forced displacement in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
They warned that targeting areas known to house displaced civilians constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law. They also noted that repeated displacement orders and widespread destruction, which they said has affected around 92% of housing, have forced the majority of Gaza’s population to move multiple times, amounting to forced displacement.
The experts added that more than 36,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced in the West Bank in 2025, in parallel with the expansion of what they described as illegal Israeli settlement activity.
They urged the international community to take action and hold those responsible accountable. The statement further warned of ongoing eviction and demolition operations, warning of the imminent risk of further displacement threatening Palestinian families in the Silwan area of occupied East Jerusalem.
The experts emphasized that the scale and pattern of these actions, combined with the mass displacement of Palestinians from their homes and lands in Gaza, reveal a persistent policy of ethnic cleansing across the occupied territories.
“The continuation of these practices, which constitute crimes against humanity under international law and carry individual criminal responsibility for those involved, is unacceptable and must not remain unchecked,” the experts concluded.
