DayofPal– More than 230,000 women and girls in Gaza, including nearly 15,000 pregnant women, are facing severely restricted access to reproductive health services due to Israeli attacks, the UN reported reported.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric cited the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), warning that the situation has increased risks of gender-based violence, child marriage, and exploitation.
Damage to health facilities, spaces, and clinics, combined with displacement and flooding, has sharply limited access to both medical care and psychosocial support.
UN humanitarian partners have reached over 13,000 households since Sunday, distributing hundreds of tents, mattresses, blankets, warm clothes, cooking utensils, and solar lights. However, capacity and funding constraints mean assistance currently reaches only about 40% of Gaza’s 970 displacement sites.
The UN highlighted that Israel’s war on Gaza has killed over 71,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 171,000, most of them women and children, while destroying nearly 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure.
Since the ceasefire on October 10, Israeli attacks have continued, killing 483 Palestinians and wounding 1,287, while restricting the entry of essential food, shelter, and medical supplies into the densely populated territory.
The UN called for expanded humanitarian access and urgent support to protect vulnerable women and girls, who continue to live under dire conditions amid ongoing assaults and shortages.
