DayofPal—British lawyers have formally asked the UK government to impose travel and financial sanctions on Israeli war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu, citing violations of international law against Palestinians.
The request was submitted by the law firm Deighton Pierce Glynn on behalf of the Arab Organization for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK).
The filing confirmed that Netanyahu bears responsibility for attacks carried out in Gaza, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, and deemed some of his statements constitute incitement to genocide.
It asked the UK to apply the Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations, known as the Magnitsky regime, which targets individuals accused of serious human rights abuses.
The submission draws on evidence from international bodies including the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice and United Nations agencies, and highlights Netanyahu’s role in military attacks and settlement expansion.
If acted upon, the request would represent the first attempt to sanction a sitting Israeli leader under the UK’s 2020 sanctions framework.
