Two Months of Israeli Atrocities in Gaza, West Bank

DaysofPal – Over the past two months, Israeli forces have intensified their violations across the occupied Palestinian territories, marked by killings, home demolitions, land seizures, mass arrests, and increasing settler violence.

A detailed report by the “Ru’ya Center for Political Development,” published on Saturday, provides alarming figures documenting these human rights abuses in Gaza and the West Bank during January and February.

West Bank

The report recorded 94 Palestinian fatalities in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including 16 children, three women, and three detainees. The highest number of casualties was reported in Jenin (42 deaths), followed by Tubas (18) and Tulkarem (14).

Among the slain, 39 Palestinians were assassinated in targeted Israeli ‘operations’, while 21 others were killed during military raids. In addition, 356 Palestinians were wounded, including 66 children, nine women, and a journalist.

Mass Arrests

Israeli forces arrested 1,823 Palestinians during the two months, including 64 children, nine women, five university students, and two individuals with disabilities.

Hebron witnessed the highest number of arrests (377), followed by Nablus (225), Ramallah and Tulkarem (210 each), Jenin (193), and Jerusalem (150).

The occupation army also conducted 2,766 raids on Palestinian towns and refugee camps, heavily concentrated in Nablus (477 raids) and Ramallah (462 raids).

The ongoing military operation in northern West Bank, which began in Jenin on January 21 and later expanded to Tulkarem refugee camps, has been described as the longest and most intense campaign in the area in two decades.

It has resulted in the forced displacement of tens of thousands and caused massive destruction to infrastructure and homes, with demolitions still underway.

Home Demolitions

During January and February, Israel demolished 272 homes and commercial structures in the West Bank and Gaza, including livestock shelters, agricultural facilities, and businesses. The highest number of demolitions occurred in Jenin (73 structures), Hebron (61), and Tulkarem (30).

Meanwhile, Israel seized 284,788 dunams (approximately 70,400 acres) of Palestinian land in January through four military orders, followed by the confiscation of 13,206 dunams (3,260 acres) in February, using nine additional orders—three for military control and six to allocate land for Israeli settlers.

Settlement Expansion

Israel continued its aggressive settlement expansion, approving 31 settlement plans in January that included 943 housing units on 9,881 dunams of West Bank land and 3,512 units on 441 dunams in Jerusalem. In February, 27 new settlement plans were introduced, 22 of which aimed at expanding settlements in the West Bank, while five targeted Jerusalem.

Simultaneously, Israeli settlers carried out 388 attacks on Palestinian communities, including land grabs, arson, and shootings. These attacks peaked in January (236 incidents) and continued at an alarming rate in February (152 incidents). Settlers targeted agricultural lands, set fire to vehicles, and looted Palestinian property under military protection.

Gaza: A Humanitarian Catastrophe

After 470 days of relentless Israeli bombardment, a ceasefire was declared on January 19. By that point, 47,348 Palestinians had been killed, 111,761 injured, and 14,222 reported missing—including 2,840 whose bodies were incinerated by internationally banned weapons.

In the weeks following the ceasefire, 722 bodies were recovered from the rubble, while Israeli forces continued their attacks, killing 18 Palestinians between February 17 and 25.

The war left 88% of Gaza’s housing, hospitals, schools, and places of worship destroyed. The damage to water, electricity, and sewage networks exceeded 70%, reducing water availability to just three liters per person per day. The devastation has resulted in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with over 50 million tons of debris clogging Gaza’s streets—17 times more than all previous Israeli wars combined.

As Israel’s barbaric attacks persist, the Palestinian people continue to endure unrelenting violence, destruction, and displacement, deepening an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
