Tunnel Under Philadelphi Corridor Out of Service Since 2014, Gaza Official Says

An official source in the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza has refuted claims about using Tunnels under Philadelphi corridor for resistance purposes, on Tuseday August 6th, 2024.

An official source in the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza infromed Al-Aqsa TV that the tunnel that the Israeli military claimed to have discovered on the Egyptian-Palestinian border is one of the commercial tunnels designated to transporting vehicles dating back to 2011.

“It is partially destroyed, and has been out of service since it was bombed in 2014,” it added.

The Egyptian state-affiliated Al-Qahera News dismissed earlier yesterday, August 5th, 2024, the Israeli claims about the existence of operational tunnels under Philadelphi Corridor between Gaza and Egypt.

The Israeli military said on Sunday that it had discovered underground tunnel routes along the Gaza Strip’s border with Egypt.

Refuting the claims, the news station said Israeli claims “are an Israeli attempt to divert attention away from its failures in Gaza and to justify its aggression,” citing a well-placed Egyptian source.

“Israel has not provided evidence of operational tunnels along the Gaza border and is leveraging the existence of closed tunnels in Gaza to disseminate false claims for political purposes,” the source concluded.
