DaysofPal- U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Sunday evening that Hamas has not been involved in any violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the truce remains in effect.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said the ceasefire was still “holding,” adding that recent incidents were caused by some rebels within Hamas, not by the group’s leadership.
“But in any case,” he noted, “the matter will be handled properly, firmly, but properly.”
Trump expressed hope that the ceasefire he helped broker would continue, saying, “We want to make sure things stay very peaceful with Hamas.”
Earlier, the Israeli occupation forces announced it was halting airstrikes in Gaza and reinstating the ceasefire following a series of raids it described as the most intense since the truce began nine days ago.
The Israeli occupation forces claimed the strikes were in response to attacks targeting its forces.
According to Gaza’s Civil Defense, the Israeli air raids killed 45 Palestinians, while the Israeli forces acknowledged the deaths of two soldiers in clashes in the southern city of Rafah.
Meanwhile, Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, reaffirmed its full commitment to the ceasefire, denying any role in the recent fighting.
“We have no knowledge or involvement in any clashes taking place in Rafah,” the movement said in a statement, emphasizing that those areas remain under Israeli control.
The renewed tension tested the fragile ceasefire, which has largely held since its implementation but remains vulnerable amid sporadic violence and mutual accusations.
