Thousands of Palestinian people turned out Thursday, 26 January 2023 for the funeral procession of nine Palestinians killed by Israeli Occupation forces during a military incursion in Jenin in the occupied West Bank.
The Participants in the funeral processions chanted slogans condemning the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation. They also called on the international community to intervene and stand by the defenseless Palestinian people subjected to continuous Israeli aggression.
The Nine killed Palestinians were identified as 61-yers- old elderly Palestinain woman Magda Obaid, Saeb Essam Mahmoud Azriqi, 24, Izz al-Din Yassin Salahat, 26, Abdullah Marwan al-Ghoul,18, Waseem Amjad Aref al-Jaas, 22, Moatasem Mahmoud Abu Al-Hassan,40, Muhammad Mahmoud Sobh, 30, and the two Palestinian brothers Muhammad Sami Ghoneim, 28 and Noor Sami Ghoneim, 25.
Millions of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank observed a general strike as they mourned the Nine killed. Schools and stores closed early in all cities.
The occupied West Bank towns of Nablus and Jenin have been the target of near-daily raids, arrests, and killings by Israeli forces.
Tensions in the occupied West Bank have been boiling up particularly over the past few months with the escalation of the Israeli occupation attacks on the Palestinians. During January 2023 alone, almost 30 Palestinians have been killed in separate attacks by Israeli forces.
