The Palestinian resistance stated in a unified press release, on Tuesday commenting on the ongoing events in the political landscape saying, “Allowing Zionist groups to practice Talmudic rituals at Al-Aqsa is a Dangerous Escalation by the Occupation Government and is a form of provocation to the emotions of the Palestinian people and a violation to their religious beliefs.”
they also sent an ultimate warning in case this plan does go into effect and if further incitements to violate or demolish Al-Aqsa courtyards are shared there will be serious consequences, “We warn the Zionist enemy against calls to demolish the Dome of the Rock and build the alleged Temple”
“We affirm that calls for demolishing the Dome of the Rock will erupt, a proverbial volcano of Palestinian, Arabic, and Islamic rage. ”
They added to Aljazeera saying, “We are in session preparing to take all the necessary measures to respond to the crimes of the occupation.”
The resistance movements also added that now more than ever and called on the Palestinian people’s courage and bravery to defend their holy land from invaders.
The joint statement also condemned the arrest of Hamam Hazem, brother of the freedom fighter Raed Hazem, who was suspected to have killed three and injured others in an operation done in Tel Aviv last March, and the targetting of his family.
The movements held the occupation government liable for the safety and well-being of Hazem.
Haaretz, an Israeli news outlet, shared that the flag march would cause a disaster in the region
Nir Hasson a writer in Haaretz stated in an opinion piece saying, “With all due respect to the freedom of worship of a handful of Jews on the Temple Mount, it does not outweigh the right of millions of Palestinians to freedom and equality, and isn’t worth the blood that will be shed over it.”
The status quo on the Temple Mount is essentially a series of unwritten regulations that run counter to the language of the law.
Since 1967, it has been constructed and perpetuated by the political elite because it is the only way to avoid bloodshed until a permanent solution is found.
The simplest formulation is as follows: After another outbreak of violence at the holy site in 2015, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was forced to announce, under American pressure, that “the Temple Mount is a place of worship for Muslims and a place to visit for non-Muslims.”
Violations of the status quo are an attempt of Altranationalists to gulp more Palestinian lands under pretexts of religious interest.
East Jerusalem is right in the middle of the Palestinian Quarter and the Silwan (a Palestinian dwelled village) this also adds more to why such an attempt is rejected vehemently by Palestinians.
These violations are not particularly new, in April and during Ramadan ( Muslims’ holy month) and during Jews’ crossover, settlers have attempted to pray in the courtyards under police protection.
They also went on the flag march accompanied by Itamar Ben-Gvir, leader of the Israeli far-right Otzma Yehudit party, and attempted to pass through the Palestinian designated areas as they waved Israeli flags and yelled racist and anti-Arab slogans. these provocations were finally stopped by the occupation police in fear of further escalations in response by Palestinian resistance.
