DaysofPal- The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) has reported a significant escalation in Israeli killings and targeted attacks against civilians across the Gaza Strip in May, describing the incidents as part of a systematic policy targeting the civilian population.

In a press statement issued Thursday, the organization said May 2026 recorded the highest monthly death toll since the start of the year.

According to figures documented by Gaza’s Ministry of Health, 119 Palestinians were killed during the month, including 19 children and 10 women, as a result of Israeli attacks.

The center noted that women, children, and the elderly made up approximately 30 percent of the total casualties, reflecting a widening scope of civilian targeting in the territory.

Among the latest incidents, Israeli helicopters struck a residential apartment near Al-Qouqa roundabout in the Beach refugee camp, west of Gaza City, killing Abdullah Atta Younis Abu Kloub and his wife Rana Abu Kloub, along with Assem Ayman Shalash Shbeir, and injuring several others.

In a separate attack, a helicopter targeted an apartment belonging to the Al-Ghoul family in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, wounding multiple residents.

Another strike on an apartment in Al-Salam building in the Tel Al-Hawa area resulted in the deaths of Mohammad Nouman Zaki Abu Marq and his wife Reham Rashdi Ismail Al-Riyashi.

In another incident, Israeli forces struck an apartment in a building belonging to the Labad family west of Gaza City, killing Hassan Rabah Hassan Labad, his wife Manar Ibrahim Hassan Labad, and their two children, Rahaf and Tamim. Their daughter Hala was injured.

In central Gaza, a drone strike targeted the courtyard of a home belonging to the Abu Karim family in Al-Maghazi refugee camp, killing two brothers, Moamen and Saqr Abu Karim, and injuring others.

Another strike near Al-Zawaida park killed Khamis Mahmoud Khamis Juwaifel and wounded three people.

In Khan Younis, Ali Yasser Aliyan Al-Adini was killed and his brother Baha was injured after Israeli forces opened fire north of the city.

Meanwhile, a strike targeting a civilian vehicle east of Deir al-Balah killed Ahmad Khaled Abu Mughseib and injured four others.

In a separate incident, Youssef Ayyesh Awad Ramadan was killed and another person was critically injured when a drone targeted a bicycle near the municipal garage in Al-Bureij refugee camp.

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights renewed its call on the international community to take urgent action to halt attacks on civilians in Gaza, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure protection for the civilian population.
