DaysofPal— The Arab Group at the United Nations has called on the international community to take decisive action in response to ongoing Israeli crimes and violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The appeal came in a statement delivered by Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz Al-Wasel, during a press conference at the UN Security Council late Thursday.
The group reaffirmed its rejection of all measures aimed at altering the status of the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, accusing Israeli occupation of expanding settlement activity and undermining Palestinian rights.
The statement also warned against the escalating Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip, stressing its rejection of any forced displacement or expulsion of Palestinians.
It called for firm international decisions to address violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
On the ground in Gaza, 12 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured, including women and children, in Israeli airstrikes targeting residential apartments and civilians in Gaza City on Thursday.
These developments come amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which has been in place since October 10, 2025.
Meanwhile, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem have witnessed sustained escalation, including intensified military raids on cities and refugee camps, a rise in arbitrary and administrative detentions, and expanding settlement activity alongside settler attacks aimed at displacing Palestinian and Bedouin communities and imposing new realities on the ground.
On Wednesday, Israeli Higher Planning Council approved the construction of 2,162 new settlement units across several West Bank settlements.
Plans include 1,006 units in Givat within the Gush Etzion bloc south of Bethlehem, 922 units in Har Bracha south of Nablus, and an additional 234 units in Kiryat Arba near Hebron.
Palestinians view these projects as part of an accelerated Israeli policy to expand settlements, confiscate land, and impose new realities on the ground, while the international community considers settlements in occupied territories illegal under international law and a major obstacle to the two-state solution.
The roots of the conflict trace back to the 1948 Nakba, when Israeli occupation was established on lands seized during the displacement of at least 750,000 Palestinians.
Since then, Israeli occupation has continued to occupy Palestinian territories and has not withdrawn from them.
