DayofPal– Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told Al Jazeera that Qatar will not accept being blackmailed through mediation, mentioning that they have witnessed manipulation and backtracking on agreed commitments.
“We have seen the continued negotiations being exploited to justify the continuation of the war for narrow political purposes,” said Qatari minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as referring to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s attempts to set up roadblocks in the path of negotiations.
This has been exposed by newly documents leaked from the PM office proving that the discussions on prisoners’ deals were being manipulated and changed by Netanyahu’s officials, according to Yent newspaper and Israeli channel.
About Hamas office in Doha, the Qatari minister said that reports about dismissing Hamas leaders from Qatar and closing their office are inaccurate, confirming that the purpose of the Hamas office in Qatar is to serve as a communication channel between the concerned parties.
He pointed out that the presence of the Hamas office in Doha has notably helped achieve a ceasefire during the current war and contributed to maintaining calm during previous rounds of negotiations tied to different Israeli aggressions.
He further revealed that Qatar hasn’t informed any party, Hamas or Israel, about halting its mediation in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations despite that it had previously expressed that it was considering halting its mediation if the entrenched positions continued.
Estimations have revealed that Israeli media may be the source of spreading such news and later it was reported by some agencies.
The ministry, in addition, reaffirms Qatar’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people until they achieve all their rights.
