The Director of the Palestinian Prisoners information center (PIC), Ahmed Al-Qidra, confirmed on Sunday, October 2, 2022, that the hunger strike of the 30 Palestinian administrative detainees inside Israeli occupation prisons will continue until their demands are met, pointing out that the Israeli prison administration is still stubborn in responding to their demands.
Al-Qidra said in a statement, “The Palestinian detainees entered the step of a forced hunger strike, to protest their continued illegal administrative detention by the Israeli occupation, in addition to the detention of elderly citizens and patients over 70 years of age.
Al-Qidra stated, “The detainees were forced to take protest and warning steps to the Israeli prison administration, to achieve their demands, and to get a clear date for the release of the elderly Palestinian detainees.”
He added that the Palestinian detainees inside the occupation’s prisons may, in the coming days, go on a hunger strike in support of the 30 Palestinian administrative detainees, noting that this strike will initially be in limited numbers, and then expand to include large numbers of all groups.
It is noteworthy that 30 Palestinian administrative detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons are continuing their open hunger strike for the eighth consecutive day, as it is expected that the prisoners’ strike will expand in the coming days.
