Palestinian prisoner Wisam Omar Mleitat, a 38-year-old resident of Beit Furik near Nablus, entered on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, his 22nd year in Israeli occupation prisons since his arrest in 2002.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club explained that Mleitat was arrested as a child at the age of 17 and was subjected to a harsh interrogation that lasted for more than 68 days.
Subsequently, he was sentenced by the Israeli occupation to life imprisonment plus 30 years.
The club noted that the occupation authorities denied his family the right to visit him for three consecutive years after his arrest.
Mleitat continued his education while in prison and obtained his master’s degree in Regional Studies.
He is considered an active prisoner within the Israeli prisons, with an important intellectual and knowledge-sharing role among his fellow inmates.
He has contributed to and produced numerous literary and prose writings.
Currently, he is detained in Nafha prison.
