The Palestinian prisoner Muammar Asaad Abdullah Sabbah, from the occupied Jenin, entered Saturday, January 14, 2023 his 21st year inside the Israeli occupation prisons.
The director of the Prisoners’ Club in Jenin, Muntaser Sammour, stated that the Palestinian prisoner, Sabbah, has been detained since 2003, and is serving a 23-year prison sentence.
He added that the father of the prisoner, Sabbah, died while he was inside Israeli prisons and the Israeli prisons’ administration prevented him from saying the last goodbye to his father.
According to the latest figures, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, there are currently 4,700 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons and detention centers, including 400 children and 30 female prisoners.
This number includes approximately 800 Palestinians placed under “administrative detention”, that allows the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
