DaysofPal- Munir Al-Borsh, Director General of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, has raised serious concerns about Israel’s record-setting organ donation statistics, particularly kidney transplants, and called for an independent international investigation.
Al-Borsh noted that while Israel publicly promotes unprecedented organ donation figures and presents itself as a humanitarian leader in the field, the statistics alone fail to answer the critical question of where so many kidneys came from.
He highlighted that the Israeli occupation has long held the bodies of Palestinian martyrs and, in many cases, returned them to families incomplete, missing kidneys, or accompanied by limited autopsy information, citing medical testimonies and documented cases.
Al-Borsh emphasized that Palestinians do not oppose organ donation or medicine, but they reject the use of humanitarian achievements as propaganda or the exploitation of Palestinian bodies, living or deceased, to create internationally praised statistics while obscuring the truth.
He added that the lack of transparency and absence of international oversight over these procedures makes suspicion justified and accountability necessary.
“What we need is not another record number, but an independent international investigation that clearly answers: where did these organs come from, who authorized it, who remained silent, and why is silence rewarded with impressive statistics?” Al-Borsh said.
