DayofPal– In response to Israeli ongoing assaults on West Bank cities, a Palestinian resistance fighter carried out an attack on an Israeli military post near the Tayasir checkpoint, east of Jenin, injuring eight Israeli soldiers, including two in critical condition.
According to Israeli Army Radio, the fighter infiltrated the compound and opened fire, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire that lasted several minutes before he was shot and killed by Israeli forces.
Reports indicated that he was wearing a bulletproof vest and had detailed intelligence on the site, including troop movements and soldier positions.
Israeli media reported that the fighter stormed the military tower, seizing the top floor and engaging in combat with Israeli troops before being neutralized. An Israeli Air Force drone was present but was not used to avoid harming Israeli personnel inside the base.
Following the operation, additional Israeli forces arrived at the scene, closed the checkpoint, and deployed reinforcements. The Israeli army has since launched a military operation in the area.
Hamas praised the operation, calling it a response to Israeli military atrocities in the northern West Bank. The movement warned that continued Israeli aggression in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas would provoke further resistance.
Islamic Jihad also hailed the operation, describing it as a strategic attack that reaffirmed Palestinian armed resistance.
The incident comes amid an ongoing Israeli military campaign in Jenin and its refugee camp, which has since expanded to Tulkarm. Since January 21, Israeli forces have killed approximately 30 Palestinian civilians in the region.
