The guards of the mountain in Beita town, south of Nablus, announced on Monday a comprehensive strike in all aspects of life to protest the continued Israeli refusal to hand over the body of the martyr Shadi al-Sharfa.
The guards of the mountain said in a statement, “We announce that Monday is a comprehensive strike and a day of anger and clashes at the nearest point where Shadi was killed.”
The Factions Coordination Committee and the public institutions in Beita called on the town’s people to participate in the mass event to demand the return of Shadi’s body.
According to the Committee, the event will be preceded by a press conference for the factions, the municipality, and the martyr’s family at 11 a.m. in front of the Beita Junction.
On Saturday, the guards of the mountain announced that no vehicle carrying Israeli products would be allowed to enter Beita.
The guards pointed out that they have plans and steps that will put pressure on the Israeli occupation authority to force it to hand over the body of the martyr.
Shadi, 41, was killed by the Israeli occupation forces last Tuesday, as he was working to open the water supply route for the town.
The number of martyrs of Mount Sobeih has risen to five since the beginning of the popular uprising more than two and a half months ago. Hundreds of the town’s people had been injured with live bullets in the same period.
