Hamas, in a press statement on Sunday, valued Algeria’s position in support of the Palestinian cause and in rejection of the normalization with Israel.
Hamas appreciated the Algerian efforts to expel Israel from the African Union (AU) and asked the Arab and Islamic countries to take stands in agreement with those of their peoples in rejecting normalization with Israel.
According to media reports, Algeria agreed with 13 African states to expel Israel from the AU. Algeria started to form an African bloc opposing the admission of Israel into the AU.

According to the reports, South Africa, Tunisia, Eritrea, Senegal, Tanzania, Niger, Comoros, Gabon, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Mali and Seychelles are joining this bloc.
Ramtane Lamamra, the Algerian Foreign Minister, said his country will not stand idle vis-à-vis such AU step in granting observer status to Israel without consulting the members.
Algeria announced a week ago that its foreign minister is preparing for an African tour that would take him to Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan to blockade the Israeli influence in African institutions as well as confronting the step of granting Israel observer status in the AU.
