More than 5,000 prisoners spend the blessed Eid al-Adha away from their families, and some of them have decades of time, and among them are mothers whose children were deprived of the happiness of Eid next to them.
Today, Sunday, the director of the Prisoners Center for Studies, Raafat Hamdouna, said that 5,300 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons are deprived of the happiness of Eid with their families.
Hamdouneh added in a statement that the Prison Authority administration practices many violations, outside international conventions, against male and female prisoners.
He pointed out that the prison administration ignores the privacy of the prisoners’ feast in the matter of visits, contacts, meeting with families, bringing sweets, clothes, meeting female captives mothers with their children, and other humanitarian needs.
Hamdouneh added that the prisoners’ feelings throughout the days of Eid are different from all periods of detention because they are far from their families, adding that there are approximately 40 female prisoners, including mothers who are deprived of meeting their children.
While the number of child detainees and minors in the occupation prisons reached about 250, and the number of administrative detainees reached about 520, all of whom are deprived of seeing their fathers, mothers, and relatives on Eid.
Hamdouneh warned of the danger of the occupation’s harsh measures on the prisoners, calling on human rights and international institutions to pressure the occupation, to abide by the articles and provisions of the Geneva Conventions, which affirm the prisoners’ rights to perform worship and holidays.
He called on the media to focus on and expose the violations of the occupation, and to submit complaints from Arab and international human rights organizations against the perpetrators of the prisons administration’s officers, in violating international conventions on the rights of prisoners.
