Days of Palestine – Gaza
During an event held today in Gaza City, “Hemaya Center for Human Rights” calls on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to include the Israeli occupation on the ‘list of shame’ for countries violating children’s rights
Hemaya Center for Human Rights organized an event entitled “Save the Children of Gaza”, which was held today, Wednesday 07/07/2021, on the ruins of the Al-Kolak family’s house in Gaza City.
In a press release, Hemaya said that the event included a press release on the Israeli violations of the rights of Gazan children, and a speech on childhood in both Arabic and English, and at the end The event the children released helium balloons.
The center stated that the Israeli occupation forces were and still are a major cause of suffering for children, who is just twelve years experienced four devastating wars launched by the Israeli occupation forces against innocents and civilians in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the suffocating siege imposed by the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip for the fifteenth year in a row, the military occupation forces practiced the most heinous and heinous forms of crimes against children.
The Center said that Palestinian children are paying the price of the Israeli military occupation practices from their childhood, their future, and their lives without any consideration for the provisions of international humanitarian law, which confers double protection on children as they are the most vulnerable groups in the face of Israeli military attacks or the measures imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities against the residents of the Gaza Strip.
The Center indicated that what the children of Gaza are exposed to proves, beyond any doubt, that the Israeli occupation forces continue, within a systematic policy and deliberately targeting children, in light of a blatant international silence devoted to a culture of impunity, which led to the arrogance of the Israeli occupation authorities and their disregard for the rules of the international law.
At the end of the event, the center called on the international community to take urgent action to stop the violations of human rights and international humanitarian law practiced by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian children and called for serious work to provide them with international protection.
The Center urged international organizations in general and UNICEF, in particular, to immediately intervene to stop the violations of the rights of Palestinian children by the Israeli occupation forces.
