Palestinian prisoner Ghadhanfar Abu Atwan, a 28-year-old from Dura town in al-Khalil, has entered day 63 of his hunger strike in protest at his administrative detention, amid growing concerns over his deteriorating health.

According to medical reports on his health condition issued by doctors about a week ago, hunger-striking prisoner Abu Atwan is facing serious health risks, including paralysis, a chronic health issue that is hard to treat later, and sudden death.

Abu Atwan was arrested in October 2020, and since then he has been serving two six-month administrative detention terms. He started his hunger strike on May 5.

In a related context, Munif Abu Atwan, who has been serving a life prison term for 18 years, has been on hunger strike for 13 days in solidarity with his hunger-striking brother, Ghadhanfar.
