Days of Palestine – Ramallah

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs “OCHA” said that the Israeli occupation authorities demolished or confiscated 24 Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank, claiming a lack of building permits, during the past two weeks.

In its “Protection of Civilians” report, which covers June 15-28, 2021, the office stated that the demolitions displaced 23 people, including 11 children, and damaged more than 1,200 others.

He added that most of those affected were in the Masafer Yatta area in Hebron. The Israeli occupation authorities destroyed three roads and the main water line serving several communities for the second time on June 23.

The report indicated that the previous demolition was carried out on June 9, and the demolished facilities were repaired after that.

16 of these buildings and 20 displaced persons were located in Area C, and the rest were in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

It stated that, during the past two weeks, the Israeli occupation forces killed two Palestinians, a boy, and a woman, in separate incidents throughout the West Bank.

On June 16, Israeli forces shot a 16-year-old Palestinian boy during the ongoing Palestinian protests against establishing the “Avitar” settlement near Beita in Nablus, which led to his death.

The UN report pointed out that since this settlement was established in early May, Israeli forces have fired live ammunition and killed five Palestinians during the protests in Beita.

On the same day, a 29-year-old Palestinian woman was martyred near Hizma, north of Jerusalem, to allegedly run over soldiers with a vehicle and then point a knife at them.

According to OCHA, during the past two weeks, the Israeli occupation forces wounded at least 1,075 Palestinians, including 238 children, in various parts of the West Bank.

About 790 of them, including 237 children, were injured during the aforementioned protests in Beita, 78 in Jerusalem, 77 in Kafr Qaddoum in Qalqilya, 74 in al-Mughayyir in Ramallah, and the rest in other locations.

It also reported that the Israeli occupation forces carried out 144 search and arrest operations and arrested 180 Palestinians, including seven children, in various parts of the West Bank.

It explained that the settlers wounded at least nine Palestinians, including four girls, while these girls were sprayed with hot pepper spray in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem.

In several other incidents in the West Bank, settlers damaged Palestinian-owned vehicles, more than 200 trees, water networks, agricultural facilities, a workshop, electrical equipment, building materials, and other property.
