The Palestinian Prisoners Club confirmed on Wednesday that three prisoners are continuing their open hunger strike in Israeli prisons.
The prisoner Jamal Al-Taweel, 59, is continuing his hunger strike for the 28th day in a row, in protest against his continued administrative detention and that of his daughter, Bushra.
The journalist Bushra has been administratively detained since November 2020 without any charge or trial.
The club pointed out that the prisoner Ghadanfar Abu Atwan is on strike for the 57th consecutive day, in protest against his administrative detention. He is held in the Israeli Kaplan Hospital.
Mai Al-Kailah, the Palestinian Minister of Health, called on the international community, human rights organizations and the Red Cross to intervene to save the life of Abu Atwan and to transfer him to a Palestinian hospital for treatment.
She added in a press statement that all the information received from the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Prisoner’s Club warn of the seriousness of the health situation of prisoner Abu Atwan.
Kailah noted that all Palestinian hospitals are ready to receive and treat Abu Atwan if the occupation authorities agree to transfer him. The Israeli Supreme Court decided earlier to suspend his administrative detention.
On Tuesday, a medical report issued by doctors at the Israeli Kaplan Hospital confirmed that Abu Atwan faces three serious possibilities, paralysis, or a chronic health problem that is difficult to treat later, in addition to the possibility of sudden death.
Meanwhile, the prisoner Munif Abu Atwan from al-Khalil continues his open hunger strike for the seventh day in support of his nephew Ghadanfar.
