On Thursday morning, it was announced that a parliamentary candidate had died after being arrested by Palestinian Authority security in the city of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank.

The family of Nizar Banat confirmed that PA security forces raided his house at 3:30 am, and about 20 soldiers severely beat him, and he was arrested alive while shouting.
It reported that what happened with Nizar was a premeditated assassination after storming his residence, severely beating him with batons on his head while he was sleeping, and spraying him with pepper gas as soon as he woke up.
They said: “Nizar lost consciousness inside his house due to the beating, and after he woke up, he was arrested naked and taken to an unknown destination by 25 members of the Preventive Security and General Intelligence.

The family demanded “the formation of an investigation committee that includes components from human rights organizations and the family, to prove the assassination of the activist Banat by the Palestinian Authority.
Nizar Banat is active in criticizing and exposing the corruption of the Palestinian Authority, and that was reason enough to make him pursued by its security services.
The activist Banat, a resident of Dura Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank, has been working in the carpentry field for many years and is an interior designer.
