Days of Palestine – Gaza
The Head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society, Kerem Kinik, arrived in the Gaza Strip on Sunday to evaluate the humanitarian situation after the latest Israeli military offensive and to hold talks on the needs of the Palestinians in the besieged enclave. He was met at the Erez Crossing by orphans from Al Amal Orphanage in Gaza waving Turkish flags in gratitude at Turkey’s support.
Whilst in Gaza, Kinik opened the “largest logistics centre” in the territory. “This is the largest in terms of both humanitarian aid and disasters,” Anadolu reported Kinik as saying. He described last month’s Israeli assault as “the worst” for Gaza. Water and electricity networks were destroyed and thousands of Palestinians were forced to leave their homes.
In his speech, Kinik emphasised that the residents of Gaza need urgent help. Fuel, especially, should be supplied to hospitals for generators to provide electricity.
Last week Kinik was in Cairo for talks to speed up aid efforts.

He said that the process has been completed for the first humanitarian aid convoy of ten trucks to enter through the Rafah Border Crossing.
