Prisoners Club: Israel responsible for the detention of Palestinian youth with COVID-19

Days of Palestine -

Days of Palestine – Ramallah

The Palestinian Prisoner's Club has blamed Israeli occupation authorities for the detention of a Palestinian young man with COVID-19 in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

A Palestinian prisoner in Israeli jails, Assem Jamil Shtayyeh, 27, who tested positive for COVID-19 on February 22, was detained last night by the Israeli occupation forces during a raid on his family's home in Nablus, north of the occupied West Bank.

According to Shtayyeh's family, their son was still suffering moderate COVID-19 symptoms, and that he was still in isolation when he was arrested in the middle of the night.

The prisoner's club called on World Health Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross as a competent authority, to urgently intervene in order to release the detainee Shtayyeh and to put pressure on the occupation to stop the systematic daily arrests.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, the occupation authorities have arrested more than 4,000 citizens, including patients, elderly people, children, and women
