Days of Palestine – Gaza
In a press release, Hamas Movement Saturday welcomed the ICC's decision by the majority of its members, and the judge of the jurisdiction of the regional criminal court over the situation in the Palestinian territories.
The movement considers this an important step on the road to achieving justice and redressing the victims of the Israeli occupation.
Hamas stressed that the most important step is to complete the steps required to bring the Israeli war criminals to international courts and hold them accountable for the crimes committed by their hands, and to face all expected pressures on the court, to confirm its credibility and integrity.
Hamas also called on the international community on this occasion to enable the Palestinian people to fulfill their basic rights to freedom, independence, and self-determination.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) Friday issued a decision extending its jurisdiction over the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
This came within the framework of the approval of the court (based in The Hague) to investigate possible war crimes, which said that "Israel has committed them," according to what was quoted by the American ABC News Network.
"The International Criminal Court agrees to investigate possible war crimes by Israel in the Palestinian territories, and it determines that its jurisdiction extends to the territories controlled by Israel since the Six-Day War of 1967," the text of the decision stated.
This decision paves the way for the opening of the court to investigate war crimes resulting from Israeli military actions.
