The Israeli occupation authorities have arrested about 4,634 Palestinians in 2020, including 543 minors and 128 women.
The Prisoners' and Human Rights Institutions stated, in an annual report, today that the number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons reached about 4400 prisoners, of whom 40 were female prisoners by the end of December 2020.
It stated that the number of children and minors detained in the occupation prisons amounted to about 170 children, and the number of administrative detainees was about 380 detainees.
The number of prisoners martyrs reached 226, and four prisoners were martyred in the occupation prisons in the past year, they are: (Nour al-Din al-Barghouti, Saadi al-Gharabli, Dawood al-Khatib, Kamal Abu Waar).
The number of prisoners who were sentenced to life imprisonment reached 543, including five prisoners in 2020, and the highest prisoner sentence among them was Abdullah al-Barghouti, whose term was 67 life.
The human rights organizations counted nearly 700 sick prisoners, of whom nearly 300 had chronic and serious illness in need of appropriate treatment and continuous care.
It said that there are at least ten cases of cancer and tumors of varying degrees, among them the prisoner, Fouad El-Shobaki 81, who is the oldest of the detainees.
The number of old prisoners detained before the Oslo Accords reached 26 prisoners, the oldest of whom are Karim Yunus and Maher Yunus, who have been detained since January 1983 continuously.
