The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia renewed its firm position on the Palestinian issue, and that it is a fundamental Arab issue.

This came during a session of the Saudi Council of Ministers on Tuesday, via video conference, headed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister.

Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, the minister of commerce and investment and acting minister of media of Saudi Arabia, stated that the council renewed the Kingdom's stance towards the Palestinian issue as it is a fundamental Arab issue.

"Saudi Arabia has not hesitated to defend Palestine since the era of King Abdulaziz, and it is still at the top of the issues that it supports in its foreign policy," He said.

He stressed the support for the strategic choice for peace, adherence to the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, in accordance with international resolutions and laws, and on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Meanwhile, he affirmed the importance of the Israeli occupation ceasing to build settlements on Palestinian lands, which is a flagrant violation of international law and an obstacle to achieving lasting peace.
