Days of Palestine – Jordan Valley
While trying to access their work, Palestinian farmers were prevented from working in their own land in the village of Atouf by Israeli occupation forces on Sunday, in the northern Jordan Valley region of the occupied West Bank, local sources affirmed.
Muataz Bsharat, an official in charge of monitoring Israeli colonial activities in the Jordan Valley, told the official WAFA news agency that Israeli soldiers prevented the farmers from accessing their lands and seized two bulldozers belonging by two local residents.
Around 6,200 Palestinians live in 38 nomadic communities in the Jordan Valley in places earmarked for military use and have to obtain permission from the Israeli occupation authorities to enter and live in their communities.
In violation of international law, the Israeli military not only temporarily displaces the communities on a regular basis, but also confiscates their farmlands, demolishes their homes and infrastructure from time to time.
