DaysofPal— Gaza’s Ministry of Health said that 38 hospitals have been rendered out of service and more than 1,700 healthcare workers have been killed during 1,000 days of Israeli genocidal war in the enclave, highlighting the devastating toll on the territory’s medical system.

In statements reported, ministry spokesperson Khalil Al-Daqran said Israeli forces had systematically targeted Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure throughout the Israeli genocide, leaving many remaining facilities only partially operational.

Al-Daqran added that more than 320 healthcare workers have been detained during the Israeli war, with at least 83 still held in Israeli custody.

Data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics indicates that three doctors have died in detention since the Israeli genocide began.

He also pointed to ongoing restrictions on the entry of medical supplies, stating that crossings remain closed and that no new medical equipment has been allowed into Gaza since the start of the war.

According to the ministry, shortages have reached critical levels, with 51 percent of essential medicines currently unavailable.

Director General of the Health Ministry, Dr. Munir Al-Borsh, described the days as “not just a number, but 1,000 days of suffering,” warning of a deepening humanitarian crisis.

“We are living through a severe medicine shortage. More than 51 percent of essential drugs and 59 percent of medical supplies are unavailable,” Al-Borsh said in a statement.

He added that access to clean drinking water has also become increasingly scarce.

Al-Barsh criticized the continuation of hostilities despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect in October 2025, describing it as ineffective.

He noted that more than 1,000 people have been killed since the agreement, most of them women and children.

Official data indicates that the healthcare sector in Gaza has suffered extensive damage since October 2023, with 162 medical facilities and 197 ambulances reportedly targeted. In addition to the 38 hospitals forced out of service, 96 healthcare centers are no longer operational.

The Israeli genocidal war has also resulted in widespread casualties and destruction across the territory.

According to official figures, nearly 73,000 people have been killed and more than 173,000 injured since the Israeli genocide began, while approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.

The ministry warned that the continued degradation of the healthcare system, combined with shortages of food, water, and medicine, is exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation for Gaza’s population.
