A Palestinian family has expressed their enthusiasm and excitement after US President-elect Joe Biden announcement on Monday that their daughter will be a part of the new White House staff.

The Palestinian-American Reema Dodin will serve as Deputy Director of the White House Office of Legislative Affairs.

Dudin's appointment comes as Biden continues to build his team before he officially takes office in January.

The Palestinian-American political veteran is now officially the first Arab-American to get an appointment to the incoming Biden administration.

Born to Jordanian-Palestinian immigrants Bajis and Samia, Ms Dodin’s family is originally from Dura, in Hebron Governorate in the south of the occupied West Bank.

Her uncle Ahmed Dodin, told Anadolu Agency, a Turkish News Agency, that their family is “happy with this appointment” and called it “a success for every Palestinian.”

Dodin was born in the US. However, she frequently visits Dura; Her last visit was four years ago.

She graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 2002 with a degree in economics and political science, and followed it with a law degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006.

She previously served as Senator Durbin's floor counsel and research director and as an aide to the Judiciary Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law, which Durbin chaired.
