The number of Palestinian children held in Israeli occupation jails has reached 400 since the beginning of 2020.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a report, today, "about 170 Palestinian children are detained by the Israeli occupation in Megiddo, Ofer and Damon prisons."
The occupation authorities detain Palestinian children and practice abusive crimes against them, despite the spread of the Coronavirus, as child prisoners face a double isolation process, and they are denied access to their families and lawyers, especially in the first months of the spread of the epidemic.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society has long documented Israeli violations against Palestinian children, who are prosecuted in Israeli military courts.
The year 2015 witnessed an increase in the number of Palestinian children, who were arrested during the October a popular uprising started in the occupied Palestinian territory. In response to the recent events, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) intensified human rights violations against Palestinians including mass arrests, leading to an increase in the number of children held in Israeli detention. With the surge in arrests, official Palestinian statistics indicate the arrest of over 929 children in 2015, a sharp increase compared with the number of children arrested in previous years.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society called on international human rights institutions such as UNICEF, to protect Palestinian children from Israeli abuses and crimes.
