Hamas Movement conveyed her condolences to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian leadership following the death earlier today of Saeb Erekat.
Hamas extended its condolences to Fatah movement and the family of secretary-general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), member of Fatah Central Committee, Dr. Saeb Erekat.
Dr. Saeb Erekat, a long-time Palestinian cheif negotiator and senior PLO leader, died Tuesday after contracting the coronavirus last month. He was 65 years old.
He had been receiving treatment at Hadassah-University Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem since his medical condition deteriorated in mid-October. He received a lung transplant in 2017.
The 65-year-old diplomat has been a leading Palestinian politician in peace negotiations with 'Israel' since they started in the 1990s.
In 1991, he was deputy head of the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid conference, and in sibsequent talks in Washington in 1992 and 1993.
He was also a participant in the 1993 Oslo Accords and three years later became the chief Palestinian negotiator in 'peace talks' with Israel.

In an obituary statement issued this evening, the movement offered its warm condolences from the family of the deceased fighter, his family, and his relatives, and asks God Almighty to cover him with the breadth of his mercy, and to inspire them patience and solace.
