The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) said today that 12 Palestinian prisoners in Gilboa prison in Israel have tested positive for COVID-19 raising the total number of infected prisoners to 43.
The PPS said in a statement that the infected prisoners came in contact with most of their inmates in section 3 of the prison, which means more prisoners may test positive for the virus.
The number of prisoners in that section is 90 out of 360 prisoners in total in the Gilboa prison.
The PPS called on the Red Cross to monitor the situation of the Palestinian prisoners in Israel to make sure they get the proper health treatment in light of the spread of the corona pandemic in the prisons.
